Important Notice - A New Era

parramatta cumberland basketball association

Dear Members,

We are excited to share an important update about the future of basketball in our region, one that places our members, families and players at the centre of every decision.

Behind the scenes, our team has been working tirelessly to ensure that every player who walks onto a court has the strongest possible pathway to play the sport they love. With that vision in mind, the West Sydney Wolves Sports Association will now transition into the Parramatta Cumberland Basketball Association (PCBA).

This change is driven by one priority: creating the best possible environment for our community to thrive. With the continued guidance of Basketball NSW, PCBA will move forward under a structure designed to protect the integrity and long-term viability of basketball in Western Sydney. Sydney Sports Management Group (SSMG) forms an integral part of this management framework, working in partnership with Basketball NSW to uphold compliance, strengthen operational systems, and deliver a standard of service grounded in best practice, responsible governance, and a clear commitment to athlete development and community advancement.

What you can look forward to as we step into this new era:

  • Stronger Governance & Stability: PCBA will operate with a robust governance and compliance framework to ensure long-term financial and operational stability.
  • Leadership & Oversight: A newly established PCBA board will offer dedicated oversight and strategic direction, ensuring decisions are made in the best interest of our players and clubs.
  • A Complete Player Pathway: PCBA is committed to supporting athletes at every stage from grassroots beginners to developing representative players and progressing into the senior league pipeline and ultimately NBL1 East.
  • More Opportunities to Play: A renewed strategic focus involves broadening local competition scheduling beyond Friday evenings to enhance accessibility, improve club engagement, and support the expansion of participation opportunities.
  • Enhanced Development Programs: Our programs will be designed to support player growth from grassroots to local competitions and then into the representative system, ensuring kids have fun, stay active, and keep progressing.

And with this new chapter comes something equally exciting, a rebrand, designed to give Western Sydney a strong, modern and united identity for the future of basketball. This brand will serve as a powerful platform for the players of today and the generations to come.

We are sincerely grateful for the passion of our community and for your continued support throughout this journey. Your patience, commitment, and confidence have inspired us to build something even stronger for Western Sydney. We cannot wait to share more over the coming weeks as we move into this exciting new era.

We thank you for your continued support.

From the PCBA Board
